The Rectorial Benefice of Aberavon

Community Engagement Mission Officer

An exciting new post is being created in the Rectorial Benefice of Aberavon

The Community Engagement Mission Officer will be responsible for assisting the existing clergy team deliver a more determined and focussed missionary outreach programme into the Sandfields estate combined with work at The St Paul’s Centre, to combat poverty, digital inequality, unemployment, isolation, literacy and numeracy, but above all a lack of knowledge about Jesus and the Christian Faith.

The successful candidate will be part of the leadership team, and so will be a Communicant member of the Church in Wales (part 1 of schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 applies to this appointment). We seek a person who has a heart to not only see people come to faith in Jesus Christ but also be transformed by the work, words actions and presence of our local Parish as we love and serve our neighbours, whoever they may be.

This post is for a fixed term period of three years, and is being funded by the Parish with support from the Diocese of Llandaff Community Development Fund.

The post requires an enhanced DBS check.
